Transparency
As a charity, we ensure that our operations are visible and verifiable. In our dealings with staff, partners, and the users of our services, we are clear and ensure that nothing is hidden from them.
Rural Systems
In small rural communities, we install hand pumps and gravity-fed systems that offer affordable, community-managed solutions.
Urban and Peri-Urban Systems
In dense urban poor and peri-urban areas, we develop appropriate piped water systems served by a system of boreholes, and rainwater harvesting systems that provide reliable and eco-friendly options.
Together, We Build Healthier Futures
For over two decades, GrowthAid has been transforming lives in marginalized communities across Africa. Through safe water, better sanitation, disease prevention, and sustainable livelihoods, we’re breaking barriers and creating opportunities for lasting change.

OUR FOCUS AREAS
A world where everyone has adequate safe water, sanitation and hygiene on a sustained basis.
At GrowthAid, we recognize that access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) is not only essential for dignity and well-being but also critical in the fight against Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs). Poor WASH conditions, unsafe water, inadequate sanitation, and limited hygiene facilities remain key drivers of diseases such as schistosomiasis, lymphatic filariasis, soil-transmitted helminths, and trachoma.
Our integrated approach links WASH improvements directly with NTD prevention and control. This means that every borehole drilled, every latrine constructed, and every hygiene campaign delivered also serves as a frontline defense against NTDs. By combining interventions, we break the cycle of reinfection, reduce community disease burdens, and strengthen overall health outcomes.
GrowthAid’s work goes beyond infrastructure. We build community ownership through hygiene behavior change campaigns, strengthen local health systems to embed WASH in routine NTD care, and ensure that facilities are gender responsive and inclusive of persons with disabilities. We also embed climate resilience and conflict sensitivity into all programming, recognizing that fragile environments and vulnerable communities face the greatest risks.
Aligned with Ghana’s national priorities and the WHO NTD Roadmap 2030, our integrated WASH NTDs programming focuses on:
- Community-led WASH solutions that ensure safe water, improved sanitation, and sustained hygiene practices in NTD endemic areas.
- Joint planning with health authorities to align mass drug administration (MDA) campaigns with improved WASH services, reducing reinfection.
- Schools and healthcare facilities as hubs for integration, where WASH infrastructure supports hygiene education, menstrual health management, and disease prevention.
- Climate-smart technologies such as solar powered water systems that ensure reliable water in drought-prone or flood-affected regions.
- Gender and social inclusion so women, girls, and marginalized groups are empowered as leaders and beneficiaries of change.
By integrating WASH and NTDs, GrowthAid contributes to reducing preventable diseases, strengthening community resilience, and moving Ghana closer to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3 and 6-good health and well-being, and clean water and sanitation for all.

ABOUT GHANA
Ghana, a country of over 33 million people, continues to face critical challenges in water, sanitation, and public health particularly in its northern and rural regions. Despite progress, millions still lack access to basic and safely managed WASH services, especially in schools, healthcare facilities, and hard-to-reach communities. These gaps contribute to persistent health risks, increased school absenteeism, and preventable disease transmission.
The burden of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) remains high in the northern and coastal belts, with women, children, and people living in poverty disproportionately affected. Inadequate WASH infrastructure, poor hygiene practices, and weak health systems deepen the cycle of disease and marginalization.
At GrowthAid Ghana, we view these intersecting challenges not as obstacles, but as a clear call to action. Through gender-responsive, climate-resilient, and community-led WASH, health, and livelihood interventions, we are committed to transforming lives, from vulnerability to resilience, and from exclusion to dignity.

Where We Work
Bridging the Gap in Ghana’s Hard-to-Reach Regions
Reaching Ghana’s Most Underserved Regions
GrowthAid Ghana operates across the country’s most WASH-deprived and health-vulnerable regions. Our work is concentrated in areas with high disease burdens, fragile health systems, low access to safe water and sanitation, and populations of displaced people
