World Water Day
Water is life, but without safe drinking water life dwindles. With barely 7 years to reach SDG goal 6, access to potable water is still a challenge in most rural communities. In commemoration of the World Water Day under the theme “accelerating the change to solve the water and sanitation crisis”, GrowthAid LBG is sharing the source of drinking water for Gortsonya, a rural community in the middle belt in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
Residents of Gortsonya still depend on unprotected spring as source of water for drinking and other domestic purposes. Residents travel approximately 600 meters to access water and in the dry season where the spring dries up, travel more than 1kg in nearby communities in search of water for use. This and many communities in Ghana are facing similar water challenge.
GrowthAid LBG believes that working with partners and stakeholders will accelerate access to basic and safely managed water service delivery to reflect the change we need, especially in rural and urban settings in meeting the SDG goal 6 in 2030.
