Job Summary: The Project Manager will oversee and manage WASH projects from inception to completion, ensuring they meet the objectives and deliverables. This role involves coordinating activities, managing resources, and liaising with stakeholders to improve access to clean water, sanitation facilities, and hygiene education.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Management: Plan, implement, and monitor WASH projects in accordance with organizational standards and donor requirements. Develop project work plans, schedules, and budgets. Ensure project activities are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  2. Coordination and Communication: Coordinate with field staff, community leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project implementation. Facilitate communication between the NGO and local authorities, beneficiaries, and other partners. Organize and lead project meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
  3. Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor project progress and evaluate performance against objectives and indicators. Prepare regular progress reports, financial reports, and other documentation as required by donors and internal stakeholders. Conduct field visits to assess project implementation and address any issues.
  4. Resource Management: Manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, and supplies. Ensure effective utilization and maintenance of resources. Oversee procurement processes in compliance with organizational policies and donor guidelines.
  5. Capacity Building: Identify training needs and provide technical support to project staff and local partners. Foster community engagement and empower beneficiaries through participatory approaches.
  6. Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure all project activities adhere to organizational policies, donor regulations, and relevant standards. Implement quality control measures to maintain high standards in project delivery.
  7. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies. Address and resolve issues promptly to minimize project disruptions.
  8. Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate project records and documentation. Compile and submit reports to donors, senior management, and other stakeholders as required.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Public Health, International Development, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of five [5] years of experience in project coordination or management, preferably in WASH or a related sector.
  • Skills:
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
    • Ability to work in diverse and challenging environments.
    • Strong fundraising skills
  • Languages: Proficiency in English.

Additional Information:

  • Travel Requirements: This position may require frequent travel to project sites.
