John has over 20 years of progressive professional experience working with international NGOs, research institutions, healthcare organizations, national development authorities/organizations and private sector institutions. He has over 13 years’ senior management experience with various organizations including PATH where he currently works as the African Lead for Vaccine Implementation.

Mr. Bawa has also served as the Deputy Chief of Party on a CIFF-UK funded newborn care intervention that built capacity in the management of the three main causes of neonatal mortality in Ghana. He was also the Deputy Chief of Party on the USAID funded multi-country Malaria care project in Ghana. His strong operational, people management, policy advocacy and stakeholder engagement skills have been leveraged in the setting up and operations of various PATH projects/awards in Ghana, Burkina Faso, and Liberia. His business development and donor relations expertise have led to the inclusion of PATH as a Gavi-TA partner in Ghana and thus attracting significant TA funds from Gavi to support various initiatives in Ghana, Burkina, and Kenya.

Mr. Bawa is also the key liaison between the National Malaria Elimination program in Ghana, USAID-PMI and the parliamentary select committee on health, parliamentary caucus on malaria and other stakeholders in the malaria space in Ghana.

Mr. Bawa is a member of key technical working groups in Ghana and the subregion, and currently represent PATH on the Malaria Vaccine Coordination Team (MVCT).
